Lifelong Learning and Education Quality - 1623 Words

Lifelong learning and education quality are the two topics prevailing in the contemporary international and national education policy documents. We tried to systematize the extensive and various literatures on the quality in education through two discourses on quality: quality assurance discourse and quality construction discourse (Table 1). Each of these discourses, with all the variations and different accents within them, is mainly shaped by the different understanding of the nature of the human activity systems, one of which is the system of educational practice. Professor Bà ©la Banathy (1991), theoretician of the system and systemic changes, distinguishes the five types of human activity systems: rigidly controlled (e.g. factory†¦show more content†¦The third orientation in the quality assurance discourse recognizes the simplification of such understanding of the system. It takes into account the complex nature of the system in which the inputs are not linearly and uniformly linked with outputs. The outputs are formed through the system operation process. The outputs depend on the nature and characteristics o f this process. Therefore, this orientation emphasizes the process dimensions of the quality and the micro plan of the actual realisation of education practice. In quality construction discourse the education practice is seen as complex and purposeful system based on the values – as â€Å"purpose-seeking† system (Banathy, 1991). Quality is socially and culturally determined, therefore contextual, subjective, pluralistic and value based (Dahlberg et al., 2007; Woodhead, 2006). This discourse is based on the post modernistic approach and socio-cultural theoretical orientation in which, as Dalli states: â€Å"†¦1. Theories change and so too, do their implications for practice; 2. theories need to be judged not only from the point of view of how well they describe or explain behavior, but also how useful they are in optimising potential in a given context; 3.values underlie all theory and practice †¦Ã¢â‚¬  (Dalli et al., 2011: 29). Netflix And Vs. Hulu - 1441 Words

The idea of this show would work best with Netflix and or Hulu. Netflix would be the best fit as their catalog has a wider range of choices and are more experimental in their stories than typical mainstream media. Their budget is also higher which I believe would be an added benefit for a show like this that would be shooting on location more so than on a soundstage, or at least for the city exteriors. The form of the show would not be a typical sitcom camera set up but more like how Netflix shoots Master of None (2015-present) or Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (2015-present). I feel like the camera would be less static and more cinematic. There would be longer tracking shots to give the audience a sense of being there with these characters. The story is meant to be intimate and that they are there with Julianna, going through these struggles life throws at her. A typically, sitcom set feels as though the audience is looking into the characters’ lives versus being immersed into t he story itself. The eight to thirteen episodes seems like a better fit for this type of a comedy as well. Instead of trying to stretch out a season of twenty something episodes it makes more sense to try and keep the story line conscious and building off of each other. In recent years tv shows have stopped being episodes that can be stand alone. A viewer cannot just tune in to any random episode of say Stranger Things () and understand what is happening. Shakespeare uses various techniques to create different moods and atmospheres and to reveal the characters Essay Shakespeare uses various techniques to create different moods and atmospheres and to reveal the characters. He uses comparisons in characters, the use of language and the use of tension. It is one of the most important scenes as it is where Romeo and Juliet first meet and where we learn the most about main characters. Being an important scene, Shakespeare has made it very tense and entertaining. The scene includes a lot of main key characters and we learn of the differences between the two families. The audience are already looking forward to this scene, as we want to find out about and see Rosaline! We are expecting fun as it is a party and want to know what happens with Juliet and Paris; will she marry marry him when she is of an older and more mature age? Before this scene we found information about various main characters. The audience found out that Romeo was in love with Rosaline at the very beginning and he was love sick and distraught with not seeing her. Romeo had had a dream the night before about a bad thing happening at the Capulets party. Being Romeo he believed his own thoughts and was nervous about going. We also found out that Juliet, only 13 years of age, was the only daughter of the Capulets. She has her own nurse to look after her as she is not very mature and relies on other people. Juliet is very distant from the rest of her family and does not get on with them the most majority of the time; she is a lonely child. Capulet wanted Juliet to marry Paris, a rich older man but only when Juliet was older. Capulet is a strong character, he tries to keep the peace between his family and the Montagues, but if the Montagues start a fight first then he will want to carry it on, as he doesnt want to be seen as the loser. Finally Tybalt, he is the nephew to Lady Capulet and despises the Montagues and tries his hardest to start fights with them and will never hear a bad word spoken about him. Immediately before this scene, the atmosphere is very gloomy as Romeo had a dream about a bad thing happening at Capulets party, this also gets us interested, as we want to find out if he is right and what will happen. At the opening of scene 5 Capulets servants prepare for his party. The atmosphere is very busy, rushed and fast moving. All of the servants are rushing around preparing for the party. They all talk to each other in short sentences; You are lookd for, and calld for, askd forà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ This key line shows the short, snappy words the servants used. For is repeatedly used as they are rushed and just use it as a joining  word to get their sentence across before rushing off to prepare more things for the party once more. The apostrophes are repeated in all three words as it shows they are rushed even in their speech; they have to shorten words to say what they wanted quicker; they cant finish sentences and even words! They do not have the time to stand and chat especially under the watchful eye of Capulet; they have too much to do for everything to be ready for when the party begins. Capulet then welcomes guests into the party and tries to get them to dance. The effect on the audience is that we are privileged to share such an intimate moment between Romeo and Juliet. After Romeo and Juliet met, Tybalt overhears Romeo talking about Juliet and was angry that a Montague had come to the Capulets own party. An argument started between him and Capulet, Tybalt wanted to fight Romeo outside and told one of the servants to go and get his sword but Capulet stopped him and didnt want any fight at his party and told him to leave it. The atmosphere was very tense and violent; Tybalt was very aggressive towards Capulet and anyone who helped try and stop him from fighting. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦Fetch me my rapier, boyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ This suggests he has no respect for his servants and people around him; he speaks as he is higher up than everyone else and uses the word boy to show his power over them. Tybalt  is impulsively violent; he acts first and thinks later, as he tries his hardest to start fights between him and the Montagues. It tells us he really wanted to fight Romeo. Capulet scolds Tybalt and he leaves the party sowing revenge. Tybalt was very angry that Romeo turned up, He shall be enduredà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ Capulet is asserting his authority, as he wouldnt let him do anything about it. Capulet is being very naÃÆ' ¯ve, as he thinks he has solved the problem. The atmosphere went from being very tense and un-settled to the audience finally having a breath of relief as the tense atmosphere is over. After Tybalt had left, Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time and end up kissing. The atmosphere is very romantic, as if it is slow motion because the camera focuses and continually flicks between Romeo and Juliet. The audience feel depressed that Romeo and Juliet cannot be together with their family despising each other even though they know there could be love between them. Finally after Romeo finds out Juliet is a Capulet; vice versa for Juliet; she finds out Romeo is a Montague. The atmosphere is very playful and menacing, as Romeo and Juliet are still hopeful for being with one another from the bad news, as they know they want to be together and do not care about the consequences of being together. They were both very shocked and heartbroken about being enemies but they are not as naÃÆ' ¯ve as their family and can see through differences and see love comparisons. Juliet refers to graves, which is a sign of bad things about to happen; we could interoperate as death! My grave is like to be my wedding bed. Juliet may be thinking ahead, if she married Romeo her family would disown her and she may as well be dead to them. She also may be thinking if she married Paris, she would be very unhappy. She doesnt want to marry him but she  wants to make Capulet and her family happy. She knows she would have a bad life and would think of it as her deathbed! In Act 1 scene 5, he brings across the characteristics and their personalities and uses a lot of tension. Tybalt for example, when the atmosphere got tense because of Romeo being at the party, Tybalt lost his cool and started getting angry, which gives the audience his real personality. Shakespeare creates different moods and reveals different characters because of Act 1 scene 5 is such an important scene. We know about some of the characters personalities but he shows us more, getting the audience looking forward to the scene from the tense build-up from the scene before. He uses the two families to bring across the differences and personalities; this is how he creates different moods; mostly being tense. He reveals different aspects of the main characters.

These characteristics are considered as intrinsically rewarding by the employees. He thus believed that job satisfiers were related to job context and job satisfiers to job content.?Equity Theory of Work Motivation by J. Stacy Adams maintains that the degree of equity (or inequity) that people perceive in their work situation contributes in job performance and satisfaction. Inequity occurs when a person perceives that there is inequality between the ratio of his or her outcomes to inputs and the ratio of a relevant others outcomes. According to this theory, motivation is based on the persons perception of what that they give (inputs) and receive (outputs) versus what the relevant other gives and receives. This cognition may differ from person to person, it can be same as reality or may be even far from it. (Luthans,1998). However, its strongest legacy is that it provided the spark for research on organizational justice, which has more support in the literature. Goal-Setting Theory by Edwin Locke (1968) proposed that intentions to work towards a goal are major source of work motivation. The theory states that some people perform better than other because they have different performance goals. The essence of the theory is four-fold (Locke and Latham, 1990). First, difficult specific goals lead to significantly higher performance than easy goals, no goals, or even the setting of an abstract goal such as urging people to do their best. Second, the higher the goal of the person, the higher the performance Third, the setting and commitment of a particular difficult goal is to an extent influenced by the personality traits and incentives influence an individuals behaviour. Fourth, by goal setting ca also influence the individual to discover different ways to attain the goal other than affecting choice, effo rt, and persistence which are considered important mechanisms in motivation. (Seijts and Latham, 2005).A systematic way to utilize goal-setting is with management by objectives (MBO), which emphasizes on participatively setting goals that are attainable, verifiable, and measurable. The organizations over-all objectives are translated into specific objectives for each level (divisional, departmental, individual). Four ingredients that are common in MBO programs include goal specificity, participation in decision, an explicit time period, and performance feedback.
